23 May 2019 or 17 Ilyar 5779 PRINCE OF WANDS

Day 34 Counting the Omar is Yesod in Hod (Foundation or Bonding in Humility). When combined with The Prince of Wands card, we are warned that our self-centered impulsiveness, spiritual impatienceonly serve to keep us off center. For the Bonding in Humility that creates relationship requires us at this time to cultivate our ability to listen fully, and recognize and value, the needs, and requirements of an other. Here we are being reminded that to build a strong bond or foundation for releationship, we must release our desire to control, and allow ourselves be open, receptive so we may grow to know the other.

Essence: A child or childishly impulsive, impatient person who needs to develop receptivity and trust to realize their creative potential. Or it may indicate a serendipitous message or discovery.

The Prince of Wands may announce the arrival of an inspiring or fortunate message. When referring to a person, the Prince of Wands is a scholar: friendly, inquisitive and possibly creative, his impulsiveness, spiritual impatience and his scholarliness keep him off center. In the realm of creativity we need to be receptive rather than pursuant.

It may indicate one who is caught in the impatient acquisitiveness of youth, or it may represent a young person (male or female) who has not yet matured. In this card, his hand is still partially outstretched toward the figure before him. As in the myth of Apollo and Daphne, in chasing and attempting to possess or force Inspiration from Creative Source, he has inadvertently caused it to fly from him. The tree before him has the figure of a woman caught in the action of running from his spiritually acquisitive energy and need to control what is essentially Holy Great Spirit’s bestowal or revelation.

Here his feminine side has not yet been integrated into his consciousness, and therefore he has cut himself off from what he most fervently desires. His mouth is still open from talking rather than listening.

There is hope that this may not be a permanent situation. The branch above his head is still awaiting his notice and attention, if he can stop his overly intellectual approach and tune into his unconscious. He’s called upon to trust the creative energy to be there. Instead of attempting to force it, he can cultivate a little emptiness. Then, the Creative will have room to enter.

If the card is reversed, it refers to one who is an energy drain on others, through talking and never listening. It might be indicating someone who has a pompous, overly intellectual approach to life.

This card could also refer to a woman or man who acts too much from the energy of animus, reflecting the androcentric, patriarchal values of our contemporary culture, and who thus freezes his or her own creativity.
