A POSSIBLE WAY TO LIMIT FORIST FIRES
What if we created extra tall lightning rods and sunk them deep in the ground in areas vulnerable to lightning strikes. Especially focusing on hard to reach areas. We could use helicopters to access the remote wooded areas to place the rods, cement building materials and men to place and stabilize the rods. Since lightning mainly strikes to highest place these rods possibly supported and extending above by narrow towers, if higher than the tallest trees might serve to capture and ground the lightning, which would prevent the terrible unreachable fires we’ve been suffering through.
This potential solution would be a lot less expensive and dangerous than the fires are. Although my idea may seem naive, I nevertheless offer it for consideration, and also to inspire others to offer their ideas. Since our present methods still leave a lot to do if we really want to prevent forest fires.
